The purpose of Emmanuel’s Adult Forum is to strengthen our ability to live a Christian life and to support us in dealing with the complex challenges of the 21st century.
Each Sunday morning, between Eucharist services, we convene in the Parish Hall for
"Adult Conversations among Christians" that explore the implications of moral dilemmas in
contemporary living. The content often covers situations involving choices between moral
imperatives, in which to obey one would transgress another. Topics are highly
diverse– ranging from complex family situations to “holy war”; from homosexuality to abortion;
from ecology to the financial crisis.
In 2011, in addition to discussions tied to the scripture readings in the
liturgy, our subjects included: the Japanese tsunami, the killing of
Osama Bin Laden and the military service of our congregation's veterans.
