Day 3 - Reflection

I often find it difficult to put into words what Annual Giving means to me and how my family decides what our financial commitment to Emmanuel Middleburg will be each year.  This year I was looking at different teachings on stewardship, and I came across this description, “Stewardship means ‘belonging to God’—all that we are and all that we have comes from God.  We are grateful to God for it all, and responsible to God for how we use it.”

We are all in different positions when considering how to pledge each year.  This year I ask you to consider the words above.  Think about all that God gives you day to day and how lucky we are to receive those gifts.  True, we all have challenges and bumps along the road, but even then God is there to guide and strengthen us.  One annual giving theme I’ve heard of is from Matthew, “For we have seen his star in the East, and we have come to worship him.”  How do you see God in your life?  Do you see Him in your children, your work, or even in the beautiful mountains that surround us?  Take a moment to reflect upon how God is in all of those parts of your life, and then ask yourself how do you “worship” him?
